I am often asked how a researcher in Informatics and Business Administration ends up holding a marble-crafting tool in her hands. The answer lies in the fusion of two worlds that may seem contradictory, yet in reality complement each other in perfect harmony.
The Legacy: Tsoukli Marbles (1999)
Everything began in Thermi, Thessaloniki. Since 1999, our family workshop, Tsoukli Marbles, has been for me a place of creation, marble dust, and inspiration. It was there that I learned to respect marble—a material heavy and cold, yet so profoundly “alive” when touched by light.
The Science: Business Architecture & BPR
Alongside the workshop, my personal path continued in academia. Completing my postgraduate studies in Business Administration and Informatics, I focused my research on Business Process Re-engineering (BPR) and Business Architecture. Studying how business operations can be redesigned to approach excellence gave me the tools to view our family tradition through a new, contemporary lens.
The Birth of mARTable (2014)
In 2014, theory became practice. I decided to apply my academic knowledge and my love for marble to something entirely new. That was how mARTable was born..
mARTable is not simply a jewelry and décor brand. It is an attempt to re-engineer traditional marble craftsmanship—transforming solid marble volumes into delicate objects of everyday luxury. I personally design and craft each piece, ensuring that structure (architecture) and aesthetics (art) coexist in every detail.
Today: The Workshop & the Online Store
Today, from our physical store and workshop in Eastern Thessaloniki (Vasilika, Municipality of Thermi) to our online store www.martable.gr, our philosophy remains unchanged:
- Precision rooted in science
- passion drawn from family heritage
- Marble Stone transformed into art
Thank you for supporting Greek, handcrafted design and for becoming part of a story that began in 1999 and continues to evolve every single day.
With appreciation,
Olga Tsoukli
“Κάθε κομμάτι που σχεδιάζω είναι ένα κομμάτι αυτής της ιστορίας. Σας προσκαλώ να δείτε πως η έρευνα και η παράδοση παίρνουν μορφή μέσα από το μάρμαρο”
